ABOUT

Joey Pollari is an editor, musician, writer, and director hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He started out work as an actor, performing in such projects as “Love, Simon,” “American Crime,” “Up All Night,” “Saint George,” and “Sugar.” Through these projects, he worked in close collaboration with directors such as Greg Berlanti, John Ridley, Gregg Araki, Rachel Morrison, Kimberly Pierce, and Fernando Meirelles.

His passion for directing and editing is multifarious. He has directed and edited music videos with a deep interest in the experimental films of Stan Brakhage and Jonas Mekas, as well as music videos with modern influences such as Jonathan Glazer and Chris Cunningham. No matter the form, his focus has been on creating visual languages that speak to the personal psychology of symbols and expression, turmoil and ecstasy, and the universal ache of freedom.

His history as an actor has lead to a cultivated experience of working with directors, and an expertise for directing performers. His discipline as a musician has created a deep and abiding interest for music and musicians to develop complex and visual worlds that mirror a musician’s internal vision.
